Hello English  Documentation (Five days)
Under the leadership of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, a special project study in primary schools of Kerala started for Learning Enhancement programme in English . The important aim of this programme is to develop the standard of leraning  English among the children and also handling English language easily. For this purpose, HELLO ENGLISH  PROGRAMME was inaugurated in GLPS Kulathummel at 10 AM on 21-11-2016 .In this function Smt. Ansajitha Rassel presided the programme .BPO Sri. Vivekananthan welcomed the members .The honourable MLA Sri I.B Satheesh inaugurated the programme .State Project Director, Sri Kutty Krishnan and Programme Officer Sri. Sreekumar speak about the importance of English in our schools. Smt.Ajitha .S and Smt Sreerekha were spoke with wish. The AEO Smt.Vijayakumari dedicated their gratitude .The inauguration functions ended at 10.45 AM .
          Hello English learning enhancement  programme was directed by DIET FACULTY Mrs. Geetha Nair, Trainers Mr. Amul Roy and Mr. Jayakumar
          First day there are 6 activities based on teacher talk .These activities helped to improve the ability in speaking English without fear and make the children interact freely by using English.
          Second day ,the sessions focused on how to build teacher talk the participants had the chance to engage in meaningful dialogue and to plan the activities using apt body language , simple sentences and meaningful chungs. learning objects could be achieved to all students without using mother tongue .
The session about case study helped them to rephrase their response in English or mega phone it so that it gives them confidence to respond in English .The video clips about Anitha teachers class helps the participants to understand how the students can achieve learning outcome without using mother tongue .The session concluded with the preparation of  TLM for the 1-4 th standards for the next day tryout class.
          Third day participants were ready with their teaching manual for the tryout class at GLPS Kulathummal .Each group was given the first unit of second part of the 1-4 standards .Two members from each group handled the classes and two others wrote down their teacher talk used in the class and one member took the video of the class. After the tryout class the groups presented the teacher talk used in the class. Almost  all teachers used the teacher talk other than in the teaching manual. After evaluating about the try out class the participants got confidence how to prepare the teaching manual by writing all the teacher talk we will be using in the class. The session ended with the story telling in an interacting way .
          The fourth day sessions gave importance for developing efficiency in story telling .The day began with viewing a video with a movie ‘The Dreams’ . This helped us to know how a myth affects the culture of each place and the participants discussed how it affected us the thoughts and actions of characters , setting point of view and theme. The participants watched a video of an interactive story telling of the ‘clay pot ’ .The the whole group was divided into 3 and acted out a story
          Our BPO Mr. Vivekananthan published a story book prepared by RPs named ‘Hello English’ and distributed to all teachers. After this the participants were divided into groups and task was assigned .Each groups had to perform the story in 3 ways – Interactive way , Innovative way , and stills ( Narrate it and act out ) . The session ended with by giving scattered words of a book without prepositions and asked the participants to guess the title .Participants were divided into 4 groups and asked them to choose a title and write sentences using the words from the screen       .Then she gave a chart paper drawing to lines in diagonal way . Four places were there and asked to become 4 member groups. Each one wrote various titles on 4 columns and make meaningful sentences. After writing one sentence,rotate and write another sentence in another person column the process is continued . Through this way the children can make meaning   sentences from the scattered words prepared by the teacher.
The last day began with continuing the previous day activity RP asked the groups to collect their own work in the chart and to read out. Then she raised a question what is reading .Many answers arose from the groups and then she told reading is making predictions and motivating thoughts .It must be purposeful planned in advance to decide the linguistic materials and the way of relating text .The she gave the text of ‘Letter to Ann Frank ’by Lady Isadora .The participants were asked to make Atlas of Planets by giving reading materials .The the session continued by giving reading tips for 10 groups and selected a person from each groups and asked them to read out .The whole group evaluated the way of reading and concluded the session with a game .By preparing teaching manual of unit one of part 2 ( 1-4 standard).The teachers had tryout class in PSM LPS Kattakada. After the class the merits and demerits were discussed . The session concluded that without using mother tongue the students  can achieve the expected learning outcome .
